"It will be easy to kill them," Venomstar spat. "This plague will finally end."

"Its the leader we need," Snakeskin responded. "The grey-and-white she cat."

Without pause or hesitation, blood-soaked cats pounced for Rainstar. Frostfang pulled an attacker down with her claws, and Wavecrash pushed himself in front of her.

Thunder shook the earth, and the battle began anew. It was a battle to the death, and they knew it. Every cat there was worn-out and tired, barely seven or eight cats represented each clan. In a sick way, Lostclan was lucky the cats had already been catastrophically ravaged by the monsters, or they would have had no chance.

It was only a few minutes before the Sunscorched arrived, too. The cats fell into chaos, attacking corpses just to be sure they were dead or maybe even because they didn't notice. The first rays of sunlight sparkled across the pools of blood.

"The sun is coming!" Some Briarclan cat exclaimed. "The Sunscorched will leave in the daylight! Hold them off until then!"

Snakeskin tore through the fray. "Rainstar! Bring me Rainstar!" He hissed. "Quickly!"

She had run to the western side of the collapsed container, fighting Drylands cats that had separated from the mob to follow her. Thunder rumbled across the dry ground, cracking the dirt. One of Rainstar's attackers was knocked over by the sudden crackling, and she used the opportunity to attack.

The sky was dark still, but Rainstar could not see any clouds. She could not feel any moisture. Could it thunder without rain?

Snakeskin's skin crawled as he caught sight of the grey-and-white leader. She was surrounded by three cats, and surely could not fight much longer. He half-grinned. He, too, was stained red and wounded, but Snakeskin had expected this. He had expected to suffer for the ultimate glory of his plan.

He had to act quickly. The brown tabby dropped to his haunches, preparing to jump, when claws ripped into his back. Snakeskin roared, turning around to see the small stature of Quietstar, holding him back.

"Get off me!" Snakeskin hissed. The sky rumbled again, and Snakeskin's eyes flashed with some emotion Quietstar couldn't read. "We don't have much time!"

"I can't let you do this...! You lied to the clan!" Quietstar squeaked. "This...this is not our heart!"

Snakeskin thrusted himself forward, kicking the little black cat off of him. He changed his direction mid-air, to pin Quietstar down. Snakeskin's eyes blazed in fury. "Of all the times to you have your stupid change of heart!" He growled from deep in his chest.

The thunder boomed once again. Snakeskin snarled up at it, as if the sky had spoke to him. His eyes darted back down to Quietstar, and turned cold. "You'll have to do," he growled.

Quietstar struggled, peeping out a few more words. "I have to save my clan!" Before he could add more, Snakeskin grabbed Quietstar's ruff tightly with his teeth. He prepared to pounce once more, but now in the direction away from Rainstar, back to the Behemoth's Bones. Trying to break free from his grasp, Quietstar said "You won't-"

Snakeskin leaped so high it was like he was a bird preparing for flight. The force it took to propel the tail-less deputy so far broke the neck of the leader her carried. When Snakeskin landed on the top of the metal box, Quietstar was already dead. He threw the corpse across the blisteringly hot surface, and howled.

"Cats of all clans!" Snakeskin's voice boomed as if it was the thunder itself. "Listen to my prayer!"

The cats below were mostly laying, limbs tangled and cuts bleeding, waiting to die in the dirt. The few that could still move still easily fell down to Snakeskin's voice. They looked up at the cat in confusion.

"The time for the Plague of the Sunscorched is at an end," He continued. "The time for the Rule of the Night is at an end. The time for Starclan is at an end."

Lightning struck onto the body of Quietstar. The corpse erupted into flames. The cats below watched in terror. This was a strange nightmare, of the likes of nothing they had ever witnessed before.

The flames began to engulf the Behemoth's Bones. Snakeskin didn't move as the embers lapped against his fur. "The rise of the Bloodsun is now!" He called out.

The fire raised up into the sky, as if on the wings of birds. It was no longer fire, but the rays of a painful, burning sun. The enormous sun swept away all darkness, every shadow, every remaining star that shone in the sky, with its over powering light.

The Sunscorched Monsters crumbled to ash. The cats of the Drylands watched the beasts evaporate with blank faces and empty hearts. The destruction of the beasts didn't feel like a victory now. It gave no comfort to them, as the blood-red sun beated its oppressive heat on their skin.

Day had finally come.

The tail-less brown tom jumped off the Behemoth's Bones. Beneath him, the metal wailed and crumbled to the ground. The cat was covered in fire. His face showed no pain, and he simply shook off the flames.

"I am no longer Snakeskin... I am Snakesun- heirophant of all cats! The Bloodsun's reign is eternal!"
